Embracing the Legacy of Love: Triumphing Over Challenges
Yesterday, Oct 29, 2022, God allowed me to be brought into the room with a group of learned, motivated, empowered and inspirational women to contribute to the Mamby Park Women's Conference. It was a purposeful and intentional conference that asked the presenters and panelists to empower women to become who God wants them to be while overcoming life challenges that so easily beset us.
I wondered why I was called into this space, but I soon realized that my book Better, Not Bitter: Staying Healthy After a Crisis gave me authority and authenticity to share on the topic: Strategies for maintaining mental well being in the storms of life. And now that you are an overcomer, how to sow seeds and to nurture the nest to build bridges for eternity.
So, my influence on the conversation was about:
* the love and goodness of God, which are our legacy. When we embrace His love, learn and grow in it, we are able to extend unconditional love to self and others. Do everything in love.
* employing strategies for á healthy mindset (renewed) and being the Best version of yourself according to God's plan.
* stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong and stay connected to God for total healing.
*seek counselling/psychotherapy and release and unpack all latent and visible trauma, triggers, baggage
* be vulnerable to build bridges towards loving relationships in the future
* contend to thrive after the Crisis, challenges, broken mess, toxicity by pivoting for a better, healthier you.
* self-care and love yourself
* divorce is never the first option, but in cases where there are increased egregious acts (as in my case), then it is best. Do not stay with the excuse of doing it for the children. It may cause more harm to them than good. Also, they are more resilient than we give them credit for.
WOW!! God uses what we "have in our hands," to quote Rev. Cherrine Abrahams. Mine was in the form of a little book...Better, Not Bitter: Staying Healthy After a Crisis to encourage all to build bridges towards loving relationships. #God#Jamaica #queens#relationships #kings
